A voracious reader and prolific storyteller, Landis Lain hails from Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University (Go Spartans!) and snaffled a law degree to support her family and pursue her writing dream. She served as an Administrative Law judge for the State of Michigan. She also taught Writing Composition and Developmental Writing to first year college students at Lansing Community College.
Her short story ‘Gossamer Voo Doo’ appeared in The Fire Inside Vol 1 (2020). She has two Young Adult/New Adult books published by Brown Girls Books, ‘Butterfly Arising’ (2018) and ‘Daddy’s Baby’ (2016). Her self-published full-length novel, ‘Correct Madness: Diary of a Mad Corrections Officer’ released in 2006, and her short story ‘Rusty Feet’ was published in Chicken Soup for the African American Soul (2004). Another short story, ‘Smooth Moves’ is in a March 2008 anthology called ‘Mocha Chocolate’.
Landis won the Michigan LAND Contest 2004 for an essay titled ‘Dead King Furniture'. She wrote opinion pieces for the Lansing Sate Journal and also pens opinion articles for the local newspaper, the New Citizen’s Press.
Landis loves a happy ending and is married to the prince of her heart. She has stewarded her own children through Language Arts to adulthood and dotes on her grandchildren.
Landis writes contemporary and historical romance, women’s fiction, young adult, adult fiction, fantasy, creative non-fiction, and short stories and is looking for great works to shepherd through publication in the same genres. She loves books, dance, music, theatre, and sports.
