Robin M. Pizzo is an exceptional thought leader, content creator, writer, educator and entrepreneur. She leads the education efforts of WKAR Public Media, the PBS and NPR affiliate serving Michigan's capital region. She is also the visionary and CEO of Polished Pages and Polished Pages Publishing. In each role, Robin is a compassionate advocate who uses story to celebrate diversity, advance equity and promote belonging.
Raised and highly educated in Detroit, she loves reppin' the D from Motorcity to Motown in all she does including earning her bachelors in English Literature from Wayne State University and master's in Education Leadership from Marygrove College. Robin understands the significance of collaboration and partnerships with family and community organizations, to facilitate education workshops in racial equity, leadership, and curriculum design to ensure children are resilient, lifelong learners.
She is an award winning writer and content creator with three films produced under her leadership. Right to Read was produced in 2021 and Building the Reading Brain in 2023. The Emmy award winning film, Twice as Likely, was produced in 2022. Robin examines a wide range of topics with her writing which can be found in local newspapers, national blogs and online publications. Her poetry collection, Disparities, was published in March 2023 and her Wayne State Press acquired short story collection will release in 2024.
She gives back to her community as a board member for Communities in School of Michigan and Todd Martin Youth Leadership . However, Robin is most proud of being a teacher, who has worked in every aspect of education from PreK assistant, K8 educator, adjunct instructor, and college grant administrator. She presents across the globe and holds credentials as an international writing consultant, Sustained Dialogue moderator, and Michigan Department of Education racial equity facilitator
Nothing tops the blessing of being Ron's wife and the mother to Raven, Isabella, Isaiah and Joseph. And she can't forget her fur baby, Rocco.
